JAKIRI ON THE PATH TO DEVELOPMENT
By Sule Kongnyuy in Jakiri
The installation ceremony of the Mayor of Jakiri Council, Shang Lawrence and his four deputies took place at the Jakiri town green on October 20, 2007. During the installation proper the SDO for Bui Daniel Panjouno praised, the entire population of Jakiri for having maintained peace before during and after the 22 July election polls. In his installation speech, the SDO made it clear that the population decided and voted for the CPDM list because that is where their interest lies.
In addition, the SDO for Bui saw the outcome of the 22 polls in Jakiri as a historical transformation of Jakiri from "Bagdad to Jerusalem." He called on the Mayor and his four deputies to be agents of development and to take the challenge in their hands for the next five years.
Furthermore, the Mayor was called upon to take as a priority the construction of farm to market roads and rehabilitation of schools under his municipality. In another speech the Fon of Nso, during the ceremony called on the Mayor to keep aside partisan politics and work for the interest of everyone without any impartiality.
Speaking to the press during the occasion, the Honourable Member of Parliament, Hon. Wirngo Buba Kiboh re-iterated his determination to transform Dzekwa to a city and a place to be. His recent interventions in the ministries which resulted to the electrification of Kimar, Nkartsen and Kinkadze and with other villages like Taron, Kinsejam and Vekovi to be electrified before the start of next year are cases to prove his point he said. In addition, two classrooms have been accorded to G.B.H.S. Sop, two to the Government Secondary School Nkar, and two classrooms to Government School Ber. These significant great achievements secured within a limited period of time are clear indications that Jakiri would never be the same again in the next five years it is hoped.
The deputies are Mrs Shang Emerencia, Fon Majoda Fonnyuy, Aigui Dairou and Nchadze Mohammed who, together with the Hon. MP are seen as agents of development. |
