RANDOM VIEWS ON BIYA'S 25 YEARS IN POWER
Paul Biya: 25 Years And Counting
Beatrice Anembom Monju, National Communication Officer, SDF -- "I thank God for making me live these 25 years with him in power. When he came to power I thought it was a blessing but unfortunately things became worse. Corruption, embezzlement, election rigging became the order of the day. I feel like a second class citizen. Things happen and I cannot say a word. People are sick; many are dying because they cannot afford an aspirin. If Cameroonians want a meaningful change, this present leadership must go"
John Ebenezer Tambi, Chief of Service for Equivalence, Ministry of Higher Education --
"God should take him fast and reduce our misery because he is worse than Satan. I am speaking the tr uth because I am suffering the effects and I believe several other Cameroonians are. He has forgotten about housing allowances and instead embarked on salary cuts. I have been Chief of Service since 1985 without any increments. Appointments are through discretion not merit. There is discrimination in salaries between civil servants and contract workers why?"
Jonathan Mbacham, Yaounde based Business magnet, CPDM Resource Person for Momo --
"Mr. Biya has done his best in democratising the place but much is still to be done because the democracy is in its apprenticeship level with a lot of fanatism. We encourage him to go ahead and bring Cameroonians together so that we can manage our resources well for the good of our nation by avoiding embezzlement which has become a cankerworm and create employment to forestall disparity in lifestyle. |

Mr. Daniel Anaraban Awum, Inspector General Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, CPDM Councilor Njikwa Rural Council --
"Mr. Biya is a good politician. He has brought a lot of peace to Cameroon and made Cameroon an Island of Peace"
Mr. Martin Aka: Teacher and CPDM Resource Person Akwaya -- "Looking at the past I can say much has been achieved socially: there has been an increase in the number of schools more than ever before, equally with health care units even though much is still to be done in terms of infrastructure and deployment of personnel. Much attention has been paid on foreign policy neglecting domestic policy: There is need for a clear cut policy on agriculture and the question of incentives and farm to market roads to farmers. There is dire need to address unemployment and inflation. And Mr. President has to remember that for 25 years there has been no salary increase"
John Egbe Ebai, Lecturer Institute of Public Management Yaounde and CPDM Resource Person-Manyu -- "The balance sheet has been positive even though there are also a lot of problems but I believe there has been some progress. For 25 years, unity has been strengthened. There has been progress in education and medical care and we are now embracing the technological age. We are slowly and steadily negotiating the decentralization bend. Every Government action takes its time and I can see some degree of goodwill. The Head of State has done so much but his entourage has brought disgrace. I believe that that if he used his sledge hammer to hit hard on his corrupt officials things shouldn't have gone as bad as there are now. That said, I propose that the 5 year development plan be re-introduced to pave a way forward. For me coming from the South West, the roads are bad. Since primary school I used to hear about the Kumba-Mamfe road, till today Kumba-Mamfe road has been and still remains a nightmare. This situation has put us into numerous confrontations with our base when we go back home for campaigns. The situation makes us sad as representatives of the ruling party - CPDM." |
